The Orthodox Church of St Nicholas of Japan is an English speaking multi-ethnic Orthodox missionary parish in Johannesburg, which was established in 1987. The musical tradition of the church is mostly in 4-part harmony, drawing its material mainly from the Orthodox Church in America, which is Russian in style. It is a parish under the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, His Beatitude Theodoros II, and under the Archbishop of Johannesburg and Pretoria, His Eminence Damaskinos.
